Looking for private transfer recommendations from CDG to our rental in Paris. There'll be 4 adults and we'd prefer not to do a shared shuttle (and it sounds like taxis are spendy). Any car service recommendations out there?
Thanks!

Taxis are a flat rate for up to 4 people -- 50€ to the Right Bank and 55€ to the Left Bank. It is highly unlikely that there is any private shuttle that will be less than that for four people. If you decide on a private service, I use Shuttle Inter for my family of four sometimes and it is 65€ for four from CDG to Paris (and vice versa).
Four people in a taxi for 50 euros (to the Right Bank) or 55 euros (to the Left Bank), door to door, is pretty cheap compared to the alternatives. The only cheaper way would be the RER train into the city and a transfer to whatever Metro station is nearest your hotel. That would cost about 42 euros, and you'd be carrying your bags, maybe changing trains, walking and doing stairs in the process. The train(s) might be faster depending on the time of day. You'll have to watch out for pickpockets, not an issue with a taxi.
Can we pretty much hop in any taxi? I don't want to end up in a gypsy cab.
Just go to the official taxi rank out front and wait your turn.
Don't go with anyone who approaches you offering a taxi.
We hand the driver the address on a card and the 50 or 55 euros.
The official line is well signed and has rails to control the line -- no mistaking it. It moves fast as there is a steady stream of cabs. Ignore anyone who approaches you. No cab driver approaches a customer except at the moment of loading luggage. don't let anyone direct you to a different line. Scammers are thick on the ground. Just get in line and move up to your turn; when you are close you can signal with four fingers to the dispatcher who might want to put you in a van cab. 50 or 55 should be on the meter when you pull out; if not call his attention to it. no fees for tolls, luggage, time of day whatever. No tip necessary; a couple Euro if he is very. helpful is not amiss.
The only thing I would add to Janet's very thorough instructions is that you should consider writing the address, including the postal code on a card and handing that to the driver along with the correct price and hand it over after exchanging pleasantries. Of course, if you are fluent in French, you do not need to do that.
hula,
A Taxi is the most common option but if you prefer something a bit more "upscale" and have a generous travel budget, you could consider something like these services....
There are a number of companies providing this type of service.
Ditto for writing out the address to hand to the driver, and write it out exactly as you are given by your rental.
With the fixed rate for taxis from CDG into Paris, they can’t get spendy. You and your three companions will travel for 50€, luggage included, if your hotel is on the Right Bank; for 55€ if it’s on the Left Bank.
Follow the signs in the terminal to TAXIS and get in the official line. Don’t let anyone approach you in the terminal with promises of a taxi.
Definitely write out the address IN FULL exactly as shown. Or even better print it from the website. Addresses are formatted differently in different countries, it is too easy to mangle it and make it confusing.
I've had my address mangled by foreign people sending me stuff.
We had a poster on here some time ago who couldn't find the postcode part of the address because it wasn't where she expected it, and wouldn't list the whole address as it was given to her.
