Transportation from Bayeux to Mont St. Michel and from Mont St. Michel to Rennes

!st time on Forum, so thanks in advance for advice. We'd like to tour D-Day beaches one day, get transportation to Mont St. Michel that evening, (if possible), stay there overnight, tour Mont St. Michel the next day, then get transportation to Rennes or a town close to a TGV station to leave the next day. We do not want to rent a car.

Is there reliable transportation, other than by private car, from Bayeux to Mont St. Michel after 5:30 pm? Approximately how far/how much time is the trip from Bayeux to Mont St. Michel?

At what time would transportation leave Mont St. Michel in the afternoon or later for towns that would have a TGV station or where we could easily get transportation to a town that has a TGV station?

Also, we will be coming from Paris with probably one regular size suitcase and a carry-on each. Do tours usually have room for luggage, or how is that usually handles?

Thanks!

There are slow trains between Bayeux and Pontorson. A little less than 2 hours usually. You'll be arriving late. You might need to take a taxi from the train station at that hour.

There's a bus from Pontorson to Rennes, where you can catch a TGV to Paris. The bus is about an hour.

Unfortunately this plan will cause you to miss some of the best time at MSM, after the tour buses leave in the evening.

As for your bags, leave them in your room, or have the hotel hold them for you after you check out.

Thank you Adam. I am reconsidering-maybe travelling to Mont St. Michel the next morning and staying in Mont St. Michel overnight then leaving for Rennes early the next morning. Does anyone know what time the earliest bus would be leaving from Mont St. Michel for Pontorson or how often buses leave Mont St. Michel for Pontorson in the morning?
