Transportation from airport round trip

Bonjour!
Recommendations on car/shuttle service, private/shared, from CDG airport to Latin Quarter. Do I need to make reservations for transportation service? It would be for two people. I'm thinking that I would rather not attempt to take on the metro system since our arrival time is 8ish AM and we will have luggage and jet lag. Also, would you use the same service when it's time to head back to CDG. I would need a service for early AM transportation.

Merci :))

go to the official taxi queue; don't accept rides from anyone asking if you 'need a taxi'. When you get to the head of the line the dispatcher matches you with a taxi. It is 55 flat rate to the Latin Quarter for 4 people and luggage. To return, book the night before with G7 taxi -- same flat rate plus 7 Euro to reserve the night before.

If you do follow Janet's arrival advice, (which we just did this morning) make special note of "don't accept rides from anyone else" . There were two men,in the time that we were in the taxi line, trying to divert customers. They are nicely dressed, but they don't have on the official orange vest and they hit you right at the doors to the taxi queue. And, I know one of them must have passed the group he convinced off to someone else, because he was right back at it 5 minutes later. We had a lovely taxi driver who delivered us safely and charged the required flat fee.

The scammers have gotten more and more bold pulling people out of the official queues at the airport and Gare du Nord. It is really annoying to the cab drivers who play by the rules and there is no excuse for the airport and train stations to allow this.

You are absolutely right, Janet. The real taxi drivers are the ones paying the price for these scammers. Most people aren't aware that the licensed taxi drivers' queue begins downstairs at the car rental level where they typically wait two hours before it's their turn to come up to the pick up area. To have these scabs scamming rides off the licensed drivers is terrible. Unfortunately, while the police and military are watching for terrorists, these scammers have moved in. Just as you'd warn someone about the petition people, you should warn them about these scab drivers. They figure that if you'll get out of line to get in their cab, you also won't know the going rate.

If you would like to get a private shuttle and not take a cab, see if your hotel can arrange one for you. I did this the last time I was in Paris and it was comparable in price to a cab. They were on time at 5:00 in the morning when I had to go to the airport to catch my flight home ad were waiting for me when I arrived. It was a wonderful way to start my vacation.

There are cities where a private shuttle is prudent although generally costlier, but Paris is not one of them.

To echo Janet: why pay more for a shared shuttle when you will have to go around the city taking other people to their accommodations as well? Take a taxi. (no I have no connection with the taxi industry!!!)

Some hotels will arrange this for you.. but what a waste of money as they usually charge FAR more than a taxi.

Your taxi will cost you 55 euros from CDG to left bank.. I d like to know any hotel that would arrange a pick up for anything near that price.

The taxis are fine.

For return trip you can call G7 taxis.. reliable and they have english speaking operators.. we have used them a few times for early departure flights and they are always even a few minutes early..

Take a taxi from the official stand. G7 back, as stated above. There can be traffic in the mornings, so go early. Allow plenty of time for the Taxi to be stuck in traffic for an hour or so. Better to be early when leaving than late.
