Transportation between Nice and Monte Carlo

We are taking a cruise out of Monte Carlo in October. We will be spending the night before on our own in Nice. We'd like to know others' experiences with taking the train, Uber, and/or bus from our hotel in central Nice (near the train station) to the cruise ship port in Monte Carlo. There are 4 of us (all adults) and we will have luggage with us. It appears we don't need advance rail tickets if we take the train. We are also wondering if the walk from the Monte Carlo train station to the port is on level ground and brief.

There are several answers to getting from the Monaco train station to the port on Trip Advisor, the amont of luggage you are carrying being on factor. I can tell you that a taxi or private transfer is about 50 euro from Nice., but it is door-to-door and there are four of you.

We took the bus from Nice to Monte Carlo. It was 1 Euro each way about 4 years ago. I do not like the train station nor the metro. To many pickpockets around there.

John there is no metro from Nice to Monaco.. nor is there metro there at all. Pickpockets can get you anywhere however.

And yes there is a one euro bus.. but it would not be a good choice for those with luggage as other passengers may not appreciate someones bags on their feet.. if the bus driver even allowed it.

I do not recommend taking the bus from Nice to Monte Carlo. Last October I did and the trip was extremely slow due to traffic or construction or something. This was mid-day. However the first time I took this bus in 2012, the trip took about 30 minutes and we whizzed along. so you never know. I took a taxi from the Monte Carlo casino with 2 other people (no luggage) to Place Massena in Nice and cost was 60 Euros. One cab may not take 4 people with luggage. I have also taken the train between Monte Carlo and Nice. I agree with previous poster, probably best to do the train, then cab from the station to the harbor (it's not walkable).

I know there is no Metro to Monte Carlo. I just phrased it incorrectly. I probably should have said "Take the bus, it is 1 Euro each way. The train station, which has a train going to Monte Carlo and the Metro, which goes around Nice, both stations have a lot of pickpockets at both stations." I was picked at the Metro station and while I was at the police station, 5 other people came in to report thefts at the train station. Total take for the thieves, over 5,000 euro. All of us were stolen from within 1 hour. Think how much they get per day!!
