Transportation Advice- Paris area to near Dijon then Disneyland

Hello,

We are a family of 4 (kids 11 and 5) traveling to France. We are in Paris Nov 20-28, 2025 and we will walk/bus/metro/Bolt as needed in the city.

On Nov 28 we will travel to visit friends in St Vallier. We will likely need a rental car (adding on car seat for the 5 year old) while there (~160€) On 11/30 we will head to Disneyland Paris and then take likely take a Bolt from Disneyland to CDG.

Taking the TGV from Paris to Le Creusot, Montceau-les Mines, Montchanin is the fastest, about 1h20 from Paris (~200€) and ~3.5 hours to Disneyland Paris (~400€). I’m guessing we could also just travel round trip from Paris and take the RER A from Paris to Disneyland. Round trip, we’re looking at ~485€.

Although it would take longer to travel between via car, it is much cheaper to rent a car outside of Paris and either return at/near Disneyland or CDG. We don’t mind driving and it is a nice way to see a bit of the country.

Thoughts, opinions and suggestions welcome Thanks in advance!

I think you've summed up the situation well.
You have three choices: Paris--Montceau---Marne-la-Vallee, or Paris--Paris--Marne-la-Vallee, or drive. Yes, trains in France are expensive compared to other European countries.
However, you should do a dummy booking to get the exact price because children have a discount that will show when you input all four ages of the travelers.
