We will be arriving in Paris on April 19th by train from Belgium. That is a strike day so what is the best way to get to our hotel on
Rue de Mars from train station Gard du Nord?
Do you mean Rue du Champ de Mars? If so, I suggest taking a taxi, not because of the strike, which does not affect the metro, but because your closest metro stop for your destination probably is Ecole Militaire on Line 8 and to get there from Gare du Nord requires a transfer.
The strike will have little to nothing to do with your reaching your hotel as long as you reach Gare du Nord. The strikes do not affect transportation within Paris other than possibly the RER lines.
Still, I would take a taxi from the official taxi queue which is found on the west side of the station near the Eurostar arrival platform. Do not use the clandestine drivers soliciting from in front of Gare du Nord. Give your to your driver a piece of paper with your hotel name and address. Taxi drivers are not tipped.
make sure the taxi driver turns on the meter.
Hi, we are also arriving at Gard du Nord station from London that day; our hotel is near Pyramides metro(subway) station (Opera area). Is taxi the best option?
Thanks, Jungnam
