We are researching how to get from CDG to Reims where our tour begins. Has anyone used the T2transfer.com? It appears that booking a taxi is the same amount (265 Euro each person) as taking the train without the worry of missing the train and transfers. Just wondering if this site is legit.
Where are you seeing the €265 train price, because that can't be correct. I think it's closer to €60 or 70 and that's for a last minute ticket.
If it's a few months away it can be under €30.
So €500+ for a car service, for a 130+ km drive that will take over 2 hours. Or take one of the frequent trains from the CDG TGV station, with one change of trains, for around €150 (for 2 people) and will take as little as an hour. I completely understand taking a taxi from the airport into Paris for less than €60, but this is certainly not that.
I don’t know where you’re getting your pricing. Check the prices on these trains. I’ve made that trip from CDG and only had one simple transfer to make. I plugged in the date of July 19th and second class tickets cost €33-60 each. Some bargains available for 1st class as well. Here’s a link to the booking site.
for train only tomorrow morning 49.90 € per person, TGV from CDG, easy change at Champagne to a TER for the last bit. 60 € pp in First Class. Travel time, total, less than one hour.
Bet your highly expensive private transfer is way more expensive and way way slower. Tough to keep up with a 300 kph train with no traffic in a car limited to at most 130 kph.
Ok the friend who was doing the research had put in for SEVEN tickets and didn’t realize it. She has since found the TVG tickets for 68 Euro each!🫠
When is the trip?
Even €68 each is too high.
yes, as you see from mine just above, 49,90 € is the going rate in Second for nearly immediate travel, add about 10,00 € for first if you look around. Are you booking for dates far in the future when only the expensive fares are out yet?
Yes, we are looking at the end of September for first class. We were told to get them early.
We just finished the E. France tour. We landed at CDG at 8am and took the 11:22am TGV from CDG to Champagne-Ardenne TGV. Our 2 1st class tickets were $85ish on Trainline. At Champagne-Ardenne station we walked across the street to the tram stop and took the tram to Reims - Gare Centre and walked the 2 blocks to Hotel Continental. Rather than the tram you can also take a local train.
Most other people on our trip had spent at least one night in Paris and came on the TGV from Paris directly to Reims.
We used Trainline for our TGV tickets since SNCF site would not take any of the debit/credit cards I tried. From what I read this is a know issue with many US cards.
We found signage in CDG poor so had to ask a few times which direction to the train station. We were coming from Terminal 2E. Even knowing the train station was under the Sheraton Hotel we still had to ask.
If you take the tram you need to buy 2 separate tickets at the machine on the platform. The machine takes cash and cards. We made the mistake of buying what we thought were 2 tickets but it turned out to be a round-trip ticket so we couldn't scan it in twice for our single trip. We used this tram map to navigate: https://tinyurl.com/3a3nbanw
there's also a direct TGV to Reims from Gare du Nord that you can take the RER B to GdN; I paid 18E each way to Reims for my trip in 2nd class in April. I think 1st class was 20E.
Huh. When I took the train several years ago it left from Gare de l’Est not nord. I arrived on the Eurostar from London and walked over to the other station.
there's also a direct TGV to Reims from Gare du Nord
are you sure? Reims and the Grand Est have always been served out of the Gare de l'Est.
What day of the week and time of day was the TGV from Gare du Nord to Reims?
I've looked all over and can't find it....
We are also on RS E France tour this fall. We purchased train tickets, €31, First class, senior rate through SNCF app (France trains). CDG-Reims, TGV. cnx in Champagne Ardenne. Total train trvl time, 43 min.
Purchased tkts 3 weeks ago.
