Transport to CDG Airport

Hello All,

I'm looking for the most efficient (yet affordable) way to get to the airport for an early morning flight out of Charles De Gaulle. We are staying near Trocadero and need to be to the airport by 5-5:30AM. I've heard that cab rides will be 100+ Euro and we don't feel comfortable riding the Metro that early in the morning. Is there an airport bus service available?

Most economical way would be an airport shuttle service. Metro doesn't start to run till 5:30 but it safe at that hour.

If you have to be at the airport for 5:00 - 5:30 am, why not stay the night at the Ibis hotel at CDG? You can take the RER to the airport after you have had one last dinner in Paris, check into the hotel and Bob's your uncle.

Your only reliable choice from town is a cab; order a G7 taxi on the ENglish line the night before. There is no reliable other transport at that hour. A cab ride will be about 50 Euro. We have never paid more than 60 even in heavy traffic. I have never heard of anyone paying 100 Euro and certainly not at that hour (although the rates are a bit higher at night, there is no traffic at that hour.)

Thank you all - I'm going to arrange for cab; will make sure we are not overpaying as well!

I have never heard of a cab to the airport costing 100 euros.

It also depends how many of you are. If two or more, and especially that time of the morning, there is no reason to mess with all sorts of shenanigans to get to the airport rather than taking a cab.

As Janet points out, calling G7's English-speaking line the night before to reserve your taxi is the way to go.

The cab will be on the meter and it will arrive with money on the meter as they charge from dispatch when called. The base fare is good for 3 passengers and one bag in the trunk. Each suitcase in the trunk over that is one Euro and passengers 4 and up are 3 Euro each. These fees get added at the end to the meter fare. The fare should be around 50-55 Euro.

andrea,

I normally ask the hotel staff to pre-book a Shuttle to the airport, and that's always worked well. They always seem to know which Shuttle firms are reliable.

These are usually a "shared" Shuttle, with the driver picking up passengers at various hotels using a large van (9 passenger?). I was quite impressed with the one I used on my last trip. The driver had the route to each hotel worked with great precision and wasted no time at all. He dropped every passenger at their respective terminal.
