Transport options from the Eiffel Tower

Hi all,
Will be in Paris next month and having dinner at the Eiffel Tower. We'll probably take the metro to the tower but not sure what to do after dinner. Are there taxis near that we can take? Any ideas? BTW we're staying in the St. Germain area.
Thanks,
Bob

I have the odd feeling I am missing something, but why not take the metro back?

I have not been to Paris, but I would be surprised if there were not taxis available at such a major tourist attraction.

Sorry, not much help , but at least this post gets a bump up and perhaps someone knowledgeable will see it and help

I would probably walk back but there are many other options:

  • taxi
  • Uber, Chaufeur Privé, Taxify
  • bus - such as 87 (which stops running at 22h00) or 69
  • métro - probably #6 to #10

It has been a long time, and there is all sorts of security barriers going up at the base of the Tower now, I understand, but I can recall the doorman at the foot of the private elevator to Jules Verne used to escort you to a cab if you asked your waiter to get one for you. Rather an elegant way to top off an extravagant evening.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm used to the subways in Chicago and do not feel safe after dark riding them. I guess I'm thinking the subways in Paris might be the same. Am I wrong? I'd like to walk back if the weather permits. Someone mentioned walking along the Seine. Again if the weather permits. Like I said we'll be there early October so hopefully the temps will be pleasant. If all else fails I like the cab or the bus options. Thanks again!

The metro in Paris is quite different from the one you are used to! It is quite safe. I spent a month there this summer and frequently rode by myself late at night after meeting friends for drinks or just wandering the city.
