transport help!

Hello!

My husband and I are traveling to France for the first time November 4-12th. I have plans to take the RER B to our hotels closes metro. SNCF tickets are booked to Bayeux and back to Paris two days later. We are planning on going to Versailles on the 6th (a Saturday). We anticipate walking quite a bit but the appeal and reported ease of the metro is enticing. What in the world ticket should we get? Im overwhelmed with zones, paper, navigo, etc!!

Aside from Versailles and Bayeux we will only be traveling in zone one.

What is the simplest way to go about this?

Ok, let's see....

Nov 4 (Friday) arrival day

Nov 6 - is actually a Sunday?

What days do you go to Bayeux?

I'm asking because the Navigo Decouverte, the weeklong pass runs from Monday to Sunday but you can't buy it after Thursday. It will work for Versailles but it will also depend on which days you will be out of Paris as to whether it will be economical for you to get.

Bayeux 8th-10th (Tue/Wed)

the Navigo Decouverte makes no sense. Waste of money with your dates. So get a Navigo Easy each and load with a carnet of ten metro tickets -- this will cost about 17 euro -- 2 is for the card, so you can add tickets for a bit less -- you can add individual metro tickets or another carnet, although it is unlikely you would need more.

You cannot load RER tickets on the Easy so you would get paper tickets CDG/Paris (and back) and two tickets each for Versailles -- coming and going.

And separate tickets through SNCF for the trip to Bayeux and back (and you'll likely use metro tickets on your Easy card to get to and from Gare St Lazare for your departure to and return from Bayeux).

What neighborhood is your hotel in ?
