I always take a cab from the taxi rank. It's a fixed rate of 65E to anywhere on the Left Bank.

Don't go with anyone who walks up to you as you are leaving the secured area. Go directly to the taxi line and the line manage will motion you to a cab when it's your turn.
I always have my full hotel name and address on a 3x5 index card with 65E written out beside it. I hold up my phone and ask..."Apple Pay OK??". The taxis must take a CC but sometimes unscrupulous drivers will pretend their CC reader is down.
There are pick up services but they are more expensive and possibly not as reliable. I've never taken one so no personal experience.

Thank you..that is my preference to take a taxi and I understand the €65 flat rate to left bank.
What do you do if they say their CC reader doesn’t work.
Ask ahead if Apple Pay ok before I get in? Go to the next taxi if they say no?
I don’t plan on having the €65 euros on hand.

Get another taxi if the first says they do not take credit cards or that their machine is not working. They are supposed to take credit cards by law and are usually lying when they say their machine is not working but if you know ahead of time at the airport that they do not plan to accept a credit card, just do not get in and get back in the front of the taxi line. You probably will not even have to get in line -- you'll catch the eye of the dispatcher and tell them that the driver says no to credit cards and the dispatcher will put you in another taxi.

Yes to this. AND make sure you tell the dispatcher/line manager why you are backing away and going back to the curb.

They will not. A Taxi Parisien may not pickup any customer if his Visa/MC equipment is non-functional. If you ever have any problems with a cab driver, make note of his information (in English), found on the left rear, passenger window and report him to the police:

I concur. Taxi drivers occasionally try to pull this one on my partner, who has a slight foreign accent, but the machine miraculously works again after some insistance. And, being (and sounding) French, I never have the same "issue"!
