Arriving on Delta at terminal 2E and transferring to air france flight on a regional jet (HOP) to Basel. Will I have to clear border control and customs in Paris or in Basel as luggage will be check through to Basel. Also I understand that HOP Regional airlines operates from terminal 2G. How do I get from 2E to 2G and will i have to go through security again

Border control is at Paris. Customs in Basel is just pick up your bags and walk out the green door(nothing to declare).

And at Basel airport, after you have picked up your bags, do not forget to go through the door on the right marked "Switzerland", NOT the door in the left corner marked "France", or you will end up in the wrong country!
Once you step outside the (Swiss side) of the airport, look for the green No. 50 bus in front of you which will take you to Basel station. You have to get your ticket from the ticket machine at the stop, the driver does not sell tickets. Tickets cost 3.60 Franks per person, including connections to anywhere in Basel. A taxi will cost ~40 Franks.
