Transfer From CDG to Chartres

Has anyone had experience with a private transfer from CDG to Chartres? We understand and would use the option of the bus to the train, but were wondering how much a private transfer would cost and if there is a recommended company.

My best guess is that this trip will cost between 280 and 400 euros. A couple of years ago, an acquaintance of mine was looking for car service for a similar type of trip and was worried that the price being quoted was inflated. I asked a person who has a lot of expertise on how much things cost in France -- he is a professor of economics and lifelong resident of Paris and Ile de France. Anyway, at the time, he told us that to get a rough estimate of what the service will charge, take the distance for trips like this and multiply the number of kilometers by 1.12 and double that to reflect the cost for the driver of returning to Paris. There was some other details dealing with tolls and some premiums for longer trips and the possibility of traffic on the route and how services factor that into pricing but multiplying by 1.12 and doubling that number gets you in the low end of the range for a trip for 2 in a regular sized car. As to companies, you can try Parisian Car Services, Shuttle Inter (they do mostly Paris to airport or Disney transfers but they also do custom trips), Euro Jetset (they offer a private tour from Paris to Chartres for between 300 and 580 euros depending on the number of people and the type of tour so they should be able to just do a drop off) and any of the services mentioned at http://haveninparis.com/luxe.php (expensive -- meaning that the quoted prices will probably not be at the low end of the range).

Thanks for the responses. The train is not out of the picture, but after a long flight from Chicago, I was hoping there might be an easier way of getting to Chartres. The plane to bus to train route is fine, but a transfer sounds so much easier.

Yes, it will certainly be more relaxing if you can afford to take a car service. Wrangling your luggage on buses and/or trains is a hassle even on a good day, and when you're jetlagged and adjusting to the language it may just send you over the edge. Splurge on a car service may be worth it.

I don't know if Paris Webservices can be hired for a Chartres trip, but we used them to get from CDG to our hotel in Paris and they were excellent.
