Transfer between Chamonix and Strasbourg France

We will be in East France this coming May and will depend on public transportation. We have traveled to Europe in the past and moved around utilizing trains, buses and private transfer. Any travelers have used shared van or private transfer between Chamonix and Strasbourg ?if yes, can you share the driver or company contact. Thanks in advance

That is a five hour drive, so is going to be expensive. And I doubt that there is a shared van service, as there would not be any demand for it.

Easiest route is by train through Switzerland. You can use www.bahn.de to look up times. SNCF has issues showing routes with more than 2 transfers...

Or book a shared transfer to Geneva, and continue by train from there.

I can't imagine a reputable transfer costing less than 1,000 euros. The easiest train route will show 4 transfers, but fear not:

  1. Vallorcine: this is a very, very tiny station, you just cross a platform from one train to the other

  2. Martigny: you'll arrive off to one side of the station but it doesn't really matter, there are only 2 platforms. You may or may not need to use the underpass, you'll have to check the signs.

  3. Visp: the station is a hair larger, but the transfer you'll have to make is just across the platform (don't be afraid if you see a very short transfer time there).

  4. Basel: this is the big one. There's a bit of a walk to get from the Swiss train platforms to the Strasbourg-bound platforms: you go to the main hall then along a hallway to the left. It's well signposted, you should have plenty of time, and there are no stairs, though (escalators available). It's a good place to buy a snack.

No catering on any of these trains: plan snacks and water.
