transfer 2F to 2E to US at CDG

Delta has us booked from Berlin to Chicago through CDG with only 1:25 between flights. Has anyone done this? Can it be done by correspondence rather than land side? Is it possible? I think we land on AF in 2F and the flight to the US is out of 2E.

It is done by correspondence--you stay airside.

I did something similar in October (FCO-CDG-LAX, all Air France) with 1h35 between flights. It took me 40 minutes (from the first plane stopping at the gate at 2F) to arrive at my departure gate in 2E-M. Of course, this is highly variable, and an n of 1 is about as useless as you can get for making predictions :-)

thanks Eric -- I did look at the CDG site but was not entirely sure about the instructions. Obviously if you get landside you are doomed and I have only walked between A and F landside -- never done a transfer at CDG. I know I have to go through passport control and that is always dicey. WE also could not get that close to the front of the plane -- about half way back already.

And Joe thanks -- saw that but because I don't know the gate, I didn't go all the way through. There is a chat to answer questions but alas they charge for that.

Looks feasible -- feeling better. I avoided Schiphol for the transfer because of the recent problems they have been having -- but it is always a toss up.

I did it in the other direction in September. As mentioned you do stay in the secure area but you'll go thru security again coming into 2E so have your liquids in a ziplock. In September the security guys in 2F were standing there with ziplocks making people transfer liquids if they had them in another kind of container. My US quart ziplock was given the nod to go thru. You'll be off your plane quicker in 2F as it will likely be smaller than the ones on the international leg. I'd want to sit as close to the front as you can so you can deplane quickly.

Don't make a comfort stop until you get to your gate in 2E. Your plane to Chicago will likely have already started loading as Delta loads 50-60 minutes ahead of departure on the International flights out of CDG.

Are there any earlier Air France or KLM flights from Berlin to CDG that morning?

According to Air France's connection/transfer website information, from 2F you need 30 minutes, including time on the shuttle to get to Hall M, 25 minutes to get to L and 20 minutes to get to K in 2E. How slowly or quickly do you walk? How far back on the arriving flight will you be? I've done the transfer from 2F to 2E-M in about 35 minutes via correspondence. I was walking at my usual pace and we were in the third row of the arriving flight. I also was completely unconcerned about missing my flight back to the US so I had zero stress. I am a big believer in reducing stress so if I was anxious about my ongoing flight and could not move quickly, I would give myself more time for the transfer.

my big concern is not so much the distance but the passport control process slowing it all down. I am about half way back in the plane -- best I could do -- but I can walk fast.

M is furthest away and at least when I did it, required a shuttle bus -- not sure if that is still the case. I have also had to get to K from 2F and that takes about the same amount of time but is all walking. I've actually never been in L. The most important thing, I think, is to see if you are going to the K, L, or M areas. I think the signage is super clear and easy to follow but I always think that I am remembering the wrong letter or read the display incorrectly and that I will get to M and should have gone to K or L.

We did terminal 2E (Air France) to terminal 2F (Japan Airlines) in October 2022. It took less time than we expected - probably 30 minutes but we didn't dawdle and had our liquids bags ready to go.

I think passport control is your unknown factor as that is crowd dependent.

My one experience of 2E to 2F, I was waved to the e-gates, there literally was no one ahead of me (one British couple was ahead but they stepped aside as the husband was still getting himself recombobulated from security). The attendant took my passport, said "the machines are touchy let me do that for you", inserted my passport, handed it back and I was in. I forgot to lower my mask so that held me up for a few seconds.

Hopefully you'll catch a seam with light to no crowd but you'll never be able to predict that ahead of time.

Thanks. I looked at today's flight and it left from M so I assume that is where we will have to go and we will need to use the Navette. One assumes that if they book this correspondence it is possible but obviously anything going wrong like a delayed plane and we are screwed. I was surprised not to be able to get a direct flight from Berlin to Chicago but so it is. Tickets are expensive for premium economy (alas there is none on the Berlin/CDG leg so we are pretty far back in coach) and we no longer fly anything less than that. Would fly business if we could afford it and will do a last minute upgrade if it is available..

It would not be the end of the world if we had to fly the next day but I assume we would be stuck in basic coach if that were the case. Too old for that. Did it for decades but can't do it anymore.
