I found that I could not buy my tickets at a tram stop with my Capital one card.
I noticed that there was only one card symbol...EB? Is that a specific European Credit card?
I saw MasterCard and Visa on the parking kiosk with the Eb/EC symbol.

Which city?
I am sorry Lyon.
Just came in from walking around the old city. Luckily not near the demonstrations.
I think it's e-carte bleu.
In which case your card should work, unless either the machine do doesn't accept foreign cards, or your card provider isn't set up for CB transactions.
Could be that the ticket machine only accepts Chip+Pin. Does your card have a pin?
Thanks to all for the help.
That's why it is always good to keep plenty of coins in your pocket! So I have started to pay for a few things in euros to always have 2 and 1 coins available for the tram!
Moved on to Dijon!
