I don't believe there is a night train.
Luggage is included on regular TGVs, but not on the couple of Ouigo trains, that SNCF has instituted to compete with low cost airlines and thus charge extra for everything.
Yes, all reserved seats, so just pick one.

The 7-day Pass SudAzur for 50 EUR pp might be nice if you intend to do a lot of traveling.

Start with https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/tgv

I am fine with 2nd class. Choose your date and time, and add passengers and age category for each.
Pick a train marked "inOui" and you will see total price for 1st and 2nd class. If there is a really good deal for 1srt class, you can consider that.

There is a night train, but it takes 13 hours vs 6 hours for a regular TGV. Would not be my cup of tea.

If you have credit card problems, go to www.trainline.com and pay the 3% commission.

1st class are in 2+1 and 2nd in 2+2. In first class, your seat is larger, you can be alone, and you can choise your seat.
I recommand you to take a direct train. A transfert can be a risk in case of problems. With a direct train, once you are installed, you can sleep until Paris !
Trains from Nice arrive in Paris Gare de Lyon.

You don't 'choose a station in Paris'; different regions are served by different stations and if you don't know the station you just put in Paris and the site will provide the correct station. I believe that for Nice the station will be Gare de Lyon.

I would choose a TGV because seats on the cheap train are not comfortable. If first class is not much more it is worth getting for more space and luggage room but if it is a lot more then second class is fine. With the TGV you can bring the luggage you can carry. Often it goes in racks at the end of the train and those do fill up. Any valuables need to be with you at your seat.

I never choose seats -- just let the system assign them.

Thank you so much you all!! all this helps tremendously !!

..I may travel from Marseilles instead...its that the same??
Also we are traveling with 2 hand pieces, like backpacks and 2 check bags since we will be in Spain for 14 days before, and we like to fill our bags with shopping goods .... so 2 - 25Kilos bags, in that case what I should choose then?
Thank you so much....

The TGV's from Nice all stop in Marseille, so yes, the same. Again, do not choose Ouigo trains, choose trains marked inOui.

Hi V,

Sam is correct. The rail line between Nice and Marseille is governed by a speed limit that makes travel times very similar whether you are using the TGV or a regional train. Once you reach Marseille, this changes dramatically, and the TGV is the best way to reach Paris quickly.

If you can fly into Marseille, your time to Paris will be significantly reduced even though the distance from Nice does not seem that substantial.
