Trains from Basel SBB to Colmar

Hello there,

I will be arriving in Basel airpot on this coming Friday ( 21st Sept) and my destination is to Colmar. I understand that I needs to take a Bus No 50 from the Basel Airport ( can I confirm here it's on the Swiss Side or French side ?) to Basel SBB in the city centre.
Now come to the confusing part here. Can I just go to any of the window counter in SBB to purchase a train ticket to Colmar? or Must I go thru custom to the french platform to purchase a train ticket to collar? in you opinion, which is the most convenient and faster way to purchase the train ticket to Colmar?
Looking forward for some tips on this issue. Thanks

You can avoid the issues with currency and borders at Basel by getting bus route 11 from the French side of the airport to St Louis station in France, and get your rail ticket to Colmar there. All trains from Basel to Colmar stop at St Louis.

Hi Philip.

Thanks for your tips and quick response.
Since you suggested take a bus to the St Louis station and buy my train ticket to Colmar. Can I check here, would I be able to buy the ticket at the counters as well or train ticket needs to be purchase from the machine? are there any train purchasing tickets instruction in English? As I don't speak French at all !

French ticket machines are in English when you press the button with the British flag icon.

Philip has it correct.
After picking up your luggage, exit through French customs to the French side of the airport.
You then get the shuttle bus (No. 11, every 15 minutes, price €2.50, timetable here: http://distribus.com/uploads/ligne11.pdf ) to St Louis station. Every train from Basel to Colmar stops at St. Louis station. Tickets from ticket machines (multi-lingual), or manned ticket counter (monolingual).
