I am traveling on a train from Angouleme to Montmartre area of Paris. Hotel Pavillon Montmartre. I would like to know if anyone knows which train station is the closest to this hotel in Montmartre. I have emailed the hotel but haven't heard back from them.

The train station you arrive at from Angouleme will be driven by the route you take, not by which station is closest to your hotel. I think it will be Montparnasse. From there you can take the Metro. The nearest Metro station to your hotel is Abbesses.

You have no choice of train station. Each station serves a different part of the country or continent. Once you arrive at the train station that serves your trip origination then you can hop the metro from there to your hotel.

Your train will arrive at Gare Montparnasse. Take Metro Line 12 to Abbesses. The train will be labeled "Front Populaire," its last stop in that direction.

As Simon said,, you will arrive at Gare Montparnasse. From there you will want to take the Metro to the station closest to your hotel. You will want to familiarize yourself with the RATP website, and their itinerary page, to see which metro/bus for any given trip within the city.

Montparnasse métro station is a maze and line 12 is actually pretty far from the train concourse. Don't be surprised if it takes you 10 minutes of walking; there is no way around it.
