Train travel in France

We are wanting to take the train from Aix-en-Provance to Paris. I see there are several different train companies. The Frecciarossa is half the cost and no stops vs. the inOui. Is there a catch?

AFAIK, there are only 2 rail companies for that route- Trenitalia or SNCF. The Frecciarosa is the type of train run by Trenitalia. It is a new route,. InOui is by SNCF, the French rail line. When looking at trains, be sure you are looking on the train line's website, and not some 3rd party reseller. I would be surprised if either were nonstop. They may be direct, or they may require at least one change. But most would have intermediate stops along the way.

Trenitalia is now operating trains in France. I see 4 trains every day from Aix en Provence to Paris Gare de Lyon. They are direct, but not nonstop as the all stop at Avignon TGV and Lyon St Exupery on the way to Paris. If it saves you money, go for it.

The SNCF trains— which include Ouigo and InOui Trains—take 3 hours. The Frecciarosa trains take 4.5-5 hours. So, I don’t know why one would buy ticket for the slower Frecciarosa trains. The cost difference isn’t that great from what I’m seeing.

I see all the Trenitalia trains as taking 3 hours and 9 to 30 minutes from Aix en Provence to Paris Gare de Lyon.

I’m looking at the Trenitalia website and don’t see
trains taking 3:09. Most take more than 4 hours.
