Train travel from Tours to Reims

My husband and I will be taking our first trip to France in mid April and after a week in Paris we are planning two days in the Loire Valley (probably staying in Amboise, as per advise from RS). We would like to finish our trip with a day in Reims before heading back to the US (I gather trains between Reims and CDG are frequent). So, my question is what is the best way to get to Reims from Tours?

There are two direct trains a day at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm from St Pierre des Corps (just outside of Tours) to Reims TGV (just outside of Reims). I'd take one of those, as otherwise, you have to change stations cross town in Paris. There is local transport between cities and the out-of-town TGV stations.

Direct trains from Reims TGV to CDG are not that frequent, 7:30, 8:30, 2 pm and 4:30 pm, but it is only a 30 minute ride. Connections take longer and are not all that convenient.
