I am trying to price train tickets from Colmar to Basel, but no matter what site I use, I get "no fare found" or something similar. Anyone have an idea why this might be?
Found on the regional TER website. 14.40 EUR age 30 to 59.
https://www.ter.sncf.com/grand-est/horaires/recherche
Where are you looking?
Or you can buy from Trainline.eu for the same €14.40.
Its just a local unreserved ticket, no advantage to buying in advance, and if under 30 or over 59, off peak trains give a 25% discount.
I looked at trainline, raileurope, and one other. None would give me any info, but if I put in the reverse, it would. I was looking for budgeting purposes, not necessarily to purchase in advance.
As it stands, I think I have what I need. Thanks
jfschneider601, "I looked at trainline, raileurope, and one other." - If they didn't give you a price, that was because they couldn't sell you the ticket. It underlines the rule of always going to the website of the company running the trains. Even if, as in this case with SNCF, the website is a bit user-hostile.
For short trips like this on local trains, there is rarely any advantage to buying in advance. Just buy on the day, or at any other manned SNCF station.
Looking at December after the 10th ?? Winter fares may not be available yet.
These are TER trains, French counterparts to Italian Regionali. The prices are fixed. OK they might be boosted a couple of percent for inflation annually. So I think the OP has their budgeting answer.
