I am planning a trip to Paris in September 2022. I have tickets to Versailles on 9/17 and have been planning on taking the RER C from St Michel-Notre Dame. I have found that the St Michel- Notre dame station is closed for construction. So in august the RATP app is routing from Cluny-La Sorbonne to Javel to Versailles Rive Gauche. However starting in September the RATP app, is showing that this option is not available and that I will have to take two trains and a bus ( 1 hour, 15). Does anybody know
what is going on? Do I have any other options?
You can also take a train from Gare St Lazare to Versailles. It's about a 15 minute walk once you arrive.
You can also route yourself via google maps as well as citymapper, maybe when you get closer to the date it will change. There's been construction on RERC if I'm not mistaken.
The train from Saint Lazare to Versailles Rive Droite is the L line. You can also get it at La Defense.
Here is the map of the L line. I like it for the views of the Eiffel Tower looking east into the city.
There is also train from Gare Montparnasse (Line N). If for some crazy reason, the RER C, Line N and Line L (the line from St Lazare) are all out of service, you can also take a bus (currently route 171) from the Pont de Sevres stop on Line 9.
Try Google Map; it provides a few options. Here is one to consider (about 1 hour):
- Take Metro 10 from Cluny La Sorbonne to Javel - André Citroën
- Take RER C from Javel - André Citroën to Versailles Château Rive Gauche
The alternatives have been listed for you.
I am.not finding any indication of a closure of the C line to Versailles on 17 sep (only between Austerlitz and Invalides, so the route via Javel would still work), so I suggest you try the routing app a week or so before your trip. The routing module might not be able to plan the route this far in the future.
I will be in Paris in just over a week and I've been watching the C line for a while. You can check the status of the line here: https://www.transilien.com/en/page-lignes/ligne-c
Note: It's noted disruptions due to staffing issues since they re-opened this section of the line a week or so back.
