We arriving to cdg 11am and need to ge to Lyon perrache station. Are we better off going from the airport train station or go to the main paris station. Our flight arrives 11am on a Sunday. How much time should we allow to get through customs and security? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
There are direct trains from CDG to Lyon. Go to the SNCF website to check departures. I think there's one than leaves around 2pm.
TGV to Lyon stops at Lyon Part Dieu; you then have a 23 minute wait for the train that takes you to Perrache. It might be easier and faster to take a cab from Part Dieu to your final destination. Getting through customs is normally just a walk through. Immigration depends on how busy the airport is and how the staffing is. If your flight arrives reasonably on time, you shouldn't have a problem making the 13:58 train to Lyon. Buy your tickets well in advance to get the lowest price but remember if your plane is late and you miss the train, your tickets are worthless.
You can also get a tram from Part-Dieu directly to Perrache which may be as fast or faster than the cab given traffic conditions.
Are you going to Perrache to catch another train or are you staying near there? If you are staying anywhere in central Lyon, Part-Dieu will be easy to reach by Metro, tram, or bus.
I took the tram in the opposite direction, from Perrache to Part-Dieu, this summer, and it seemed to take forever.
