You can check your specific date and likely time on the SNCF website. I checked a random morning within the next couple of weeks and found that there were no direct trains from CDG to Chartres. They all involved an RER into Paris, then additional RERs and/or Metros to reach a station to pick up a train to Chartres. These trips were all over 3 hours or more.

OR, take a taxi direct to Gare Montparnasse in about 45 minutes (set fee from the CDG official taxi stand), then a direct train to Chartres in a little over an hour

I am flying Air France into CDG and on their website it appears that Hertz now offers a service similar to Uber. You can hire a driver to take you to your destination in Paris. So I may do this and take a private car to Montparnasse and catch the train to Chartres.

IMO there is no need for a private car to Gare Montparnasse, especially if it costs more than a taxi. Paris taxis have a fixed rate from the airport, based on whether you are going to the left bank or right bank. 56 euros right bank, 65 euros left bank, for up to four persons with their luggage. No tipping. They can also use the bus lanes to get around traffic, but no other cars can (e.g. Uber or private transfers) so can be faster in traffic. They take credit cards and you just go to the official traffic line where you wi;l probably wait no more than 5 minutes. Often times the private car hires can't get as close to where you depart the terminal as taxis do. I have read on this forum comments by some who had a hard tiime connecting up with their ride. (I don't speak from personal experience, however.)
Just something to consider.
