Train strike today - Nimes transportation question

Good morning. I am currently in Nimes and just learned yesterday of a train strike today affecting TER trains. I am booked on the TGV later this afternoon out of Nimes Pont du Gard back to CDG, and I have confirmed that this train will be unaffected, however, I had planned to catch a local TER from Nimes Centre to Nimes Pont du Gard and all are cancelled later in the day.

I spoke with the staff at the SNCF office at Nimes Centre yesterday and they suggested taking Tango Express bus #33 around 3:15 pm to Nimes Pont du Gard. It wasn’t clear to me (due to my lack of French) exactly where to catch this bus (I know it will be behind the station but not the specific spot) and it also would get me to the TGV station almost 2 hours early, when I would rather be wandering around lovely Nimes. I also suspect it will be jam packed, given the train strike.

Would a taxi or Uber be a good option? Would one be much cheaper than the other? I can see that an Uber would be about 35 euros but not sure about a taxi. The bus, of course, would be most economical and I have no problem using the bus, but as it might be super busy and arrive so early, I would really appreciate any insight from folks around what might be best.
Thanks very much, in advance.

Today's strike is not limited to TER trains, it potentially encompasses all trains. You're lucky that your CDG train is not scheduled for disruption.

It really should not be difficult to determine from where the buses depart Nîmes. You are looking for the Gare Routière which is on the east side of the train station. However, you could arrange backup transportation via taxi or Bolt/Uber/Freenow, something I might arrange earlier rather than later.

The bus is your most reliable form of transportation because taxis and Ubers will be in high demand. A taxi is second, if you can still reserve a taxi it could work because the taxi would be likely to pick up a fare from someone who needs to get into Nîmes from the station.

I wouldn’t rely on Uber or Bolt in this situation. They aren’t available, or cancel.
