Train Station in/near Bordeaux

Wd will be traveling from Paris, renting a car to tour the Dordogne (St Emiullion, Sarlat, Etc) - and then flying from the Bordeaux airport to England.

Which station, near Bordeaux, would be best for car rental and then access to the airport?

Thank you!!

Direct TGV trains from Paris arrive at Bordeaux St-Jean, the main station. All the major car rental agencies are located there and you're right on a main road, so the drive to exit the city doesn't look difficult. There is usually no issue at all to return the car to the airport instead of the downtown office.

Thank you so much!!

May I please bother you with another question --

We will be initially staying near Sarlat but want to visit Oradour Sur Gllane which, I believe, is about a 2 hour (or more) drive - which seems a lot for a day trip. We have enough time if we want to stay in the Oradour area for a night - or more - but I've not been able to find nearby lodging, other than in Limoges. Ideally, we'd find a nice inn or bed and breakfast that serves dinner..

By any chance, are you familiar withy the area?

A million thanks!!

Even if you can't return the car at the airport and have to do so at the station, there are frequent bus services between the two.

Oradour itself is small, so you probably won't need more than two hours there. You might just consider that a car-wandering day, making any other stop that looks interesting on an approximately 4-hour loop trip back to a comfy home base in or near Sarlat. Of course, Google Maps does reveal some accommodation in the region without being in Limoges itself, if you search for "hotels near xxx."

Laura, thank you again. We generally prefer to focus on an area and drive within an hour or so - and ton then move to another area, both to reduce driving= and to have different experiences. Thus far, the plan is to stay at a B&B (La Tour de Cause) near Castelnaud for 5 days, then to an inn (Hostellerie de Roserie in Montignac) for 3 - and that leaves me with 3-4 days... I have pored thru Trip Advisor, booking.com, Michelin, etc and am debating over a chateau (a true experience!) vs several auberge. None are really close to Oradour but if the visit is only for an afternoon, that's fine. I am SO looking forward to going - and leaving the cold behind!
