I’m planning a train trip from Florence (possibly Genoa) to the Loire in France.
Is it the efficient to go from Florence to Milan and then Milan to Paris, Paris to Loire?
You’re looking at a train trip of 12+ hours from Florence to Milan to Lyon to Paris and then from Paris Montparnasse train station to the TGV station at St-Pierre-des-Corps (near Amboise) at a cost upwards from €200 for high-speed trains. Flying from Florence to Paris Orly Airport in 1:50 for as little as €50 then taking a TGV from Paris Montparnasse train station to St.Pierre des Corps TGV station in about one hour would be quicker and cheaper. Paris Orly Airport to Paris Montparnasse is generally a 15-minute taxi ride.

Have you looked at the Trenitalia website? It's a VERY long train ride with multiple chages. I think only the early morning departure from Florence would get you to the Loire (St Pierre's des Corps?) on the same day. Or you could fly from Florence to Paris and then just take the train to the Loire.
