Hello
We are starting in Barcelona and then to London for a few nights before going to Paris then ending in Zurich. We have six adults and wondering if it's cheaper to buy Train tickets to each location or is there one pass that will cover our whole trip? (want to do train to Paris and the to Strasbourg maybe Heidelberg and then to bern before leaving rom Zurich.
thanks
Purchase individual tickets as soon as you can as prices only increase the longer you wait. A problem with passes, at least in France, is that the space made available for pass holders is very limited and, at least for the TGVs, you will need to pay the additional reservation expense. Having tickets, you will know you have seats on the trains you require.
any additional train rides? Are you flying into London? How are you going from London to Paris? Any other trains in England?
Is your entire train experience in France a train from Paris to Strasbourg and one more Strasbourg to Basel?
When you say Bern - do you mean the city and nothing more or do you mean the mountains of Berner Oberland?
Do you have particular things to do in Zürich, or it just because that's where the airport is?
The only way to know which approach will be cheaper is to run the numbers on all the individual trains you expect to take. Generally, if second class travel is acceptable to you, you can do a lot better by purchasing individual advance tickets. If you prefer first class and want flexibility, the Eurail passes can be great.
Barcelona to London is too long, about 10 hours with the crosstown station change and early check in. You should fly. Check Google flights.
Sorry we are flying to London. We will be doing things like once we get to London take the train to wembley and the different trains in switzerland (unless we just do the swiss pass since we are there the longest. Its just the eurorail is 2700 for the 10 days and the chunnel ticket alone is 500 for six
