Train Paris to Strasbourg

Hello All,

Need some help understanding best way to get from Paris to Strasbourg via the rail system. Next month, we fly into Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport, staying one night (going into Paris for the evening then back to hotel near airport). Google search indicates we would need to go to GARE DE L'EST train station (44 mins from CDG) to catch a train to Strasbourg. Is it true this is our only option? Was hoping the TGV in terminal 2 at CDG would take us straight to Strasbourg.

Appreciate anyone wisdom and experience with the rail systems between these two cities!

Why wouldn't you be able to take the TGV from CDG to Strasbourg? I took it from there in 2014. Hard to imagine the routes have changed or that there is construction or something. I supposed it's possible - sounds unlikely.

Where are you checking that you see this?

From that page, under the "From" (station), click on "Paris" to get a list of stations...and choose the one called "Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport (TGV station - CDG 2 - 25km from Paris - FR) (Île-de-France)."

So if you check the price of a trip today versus the date on August you would travel you can see how much extra you would pay for day-of tickets. Lots of trains from the Roissy CDG station, and since you will be staying at a CDG hotel you can book in advance without worrying about plane-to-train connection time.

Instead of taking a hotel at the airport, get one in Paris. There are more trains from Gare de l'Est and the prices are much cheaper for nonrefundable tickets. You can even use the no-frills Ouigo train that is 44 EUR for 2 people. Just as fast as a TGV, leaves Est at 9:25.

Going from CDG into Paris, then back again adds cost and wasted time.

Wonderful suggestions! Thank you all... booking near gare de l'est train station. Used Rick Steves' hotel recommendation forum and found two hotel recommendations.
