Train/lift questions re Annecy/Chamonix area

Re trip planned for this October (2015):

  1. Is there a "multipass" type train pass for this area that incorporates train service between the two towns as well as lift/train tix in Chamonix?

  2. Is the Aiguille du Midi lift always (except for weather) open during the 1st 2 weeks of October? If so are reservations needed/advised at this time of year?

  3. How does one find out, if staying in Annecy, if the Aiguille du Midi and Montveners train in Chamonix will be open the next day (on-line site or phone number or TI in Annecy?)?

I don't know of any combo passes, but someone else might. You can find the opening schedules here. It looks like the only time it closes is in November and December. You can get daily information here.

It's a wonderful trip. I recommend the balcony walk. It darn near killed me as I was soooo out of shape, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It's one of the highlights of my trips to Europe.
