Trying to book a round trip train travel from Paris to Bayeaux. I went on the SCNF site, put in the dates in May, and selected a departure time. The next screen shows "alternative routes" ending in Caen. Any idea what's going on? We will not have a car while in France, so if there are train issues, I'm assuming the only alternative is to make reservations on a bus?
Grace,
What are your dates and time? Right now, it's too early to buy train tickets for May, so it's possible new routes will be shown later.

Thanks for your comment. I thought the schedules were published 4-months in advance. Odd that the SCNF official site would list a time table for the dates I entered.
Its too early. I checked a random day in May and a banner popped up saying more trains would be added soon and did I want a notification. For the few trains that were listed, the prices said "on sale soon". Just be patient and check again in a few weeks.
" I thought the schedules were published 4-months in advance."
It's typically 90 days before travel date.
As others have said, you are too soon. But don't worry about it too much. Those trains never sell out.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I’ll check the site again later next month.
Currently the SNCF website only shows schedules till end of March for that line.
Currently there is a lot of work going on along that line, so schedules change, and are only published for the next couple of months.
But you can expect there to be trains. This is a regional railway, and most people travelling on it will buy their ticket on the day itself...
My only comment is that I didn't have much choice for a train from Bayeux back to Paris on a Sunday. I wanted a direct train in the early afternoon but there was only 1 option in late afternoon, arriving in Paris around 6:30. So I got to my hotel a lot later than I wanted to.
I believe there might have been some trains changing in Caen, 4 hrs total trip, but I didn't want to deal with that when there were other trains taking only 2+ hrs.
most trains to and from Bayeux change in Caen. Note that you are spelling Bayeux wrong and with something like a train schedule you want to get that right. Sometimes there are town with similar spellings and you don't want to risk ending up in the wrong place.
