What you find online will be very accurate if you go to the actual website for the train service (e.g.SNCF). For tips on how to do this, go to "themaninseat61" website for help. If your trip is more than three months away, the schedules may not be posted yet, so anyone here will have to wait to verify dates/times, etc. just as you would. Also, Nice is probably the best location for day trips to other places on the Riviera.
Don't be afraid to do a web search. It is very enlightening. Also, go to ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation for helpful suggestions. Then you can make your own plans that suit your trip.

St-Tropez is harder to reach than most of the other coastal towns along the Riviera, because it doesn't have a train station. There's a regional train line running through most of the coastal towns that will otherwise get you just about anywhere. Do watch out for pickpockets, though.

The last part of the trip to St-Tropez will have to be by ferry, bus or taxi. I haven't been there myself, so I can't provide more specifics, but I'm sure you can easily find information online. Unless you have a great deal of time on the Riviera, I'd consider St-Tropez is to you. You haven't mentioned some very attractive, easier-to-reach places like Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer an Menton--and there are many others.

Trains run between Cannes, Nice, and Monaco about every 15 minutes.
