Quick question, does anyone know how far the train station to Paris is from the Paris (Beauvais airport) is? I booked a flight from Valencia, Spain, on Ryanair as it was the best price. It looks like just over an hour into Paris from the Beauvais station, but I'm not sure how far the train station is from the airport, as I'm hoping there is a connection.
Thanks for your insight,
Steve
Beauvais-airport to Beauvais railway station (Gare de Beauvais) is about 4 Km.
Ryanair have a reputation for flying to "any strip of concrete in the middle of nowhere, so long as it is cheap", and Beauvais is proof of this.
There is a bus to Paris, details on the airport website here: http://www.aeroportbeauvais.com/bus.php?lang=eng
You have already bought your ticket, so it is too late, but this is a good case of "caveat emptor".
Google Maps says that it's 10 minutes by car (taxi) from the airport to Gare de Beauvais. You can also take a bus from the airport to the edge of Paris at Porte Maillot and transfer there to the Metro.
The taxi from the airport to the train station in Beauvais is a fixed rate. I think it is 13 euros in the daytime and slightly more at night. The train is around 14.5 euros. The train, though it runs pretty often, is not scheduled to coordinate with flights the way that the bus is and the bus is cheaper than the taxi and train combination so the bus linked to above is generally a better idea for getting into Paris from Beauvais Airport.
Hi,
When you get to Beauvais train station, there is a direct regional line to Paris Nord, ca one hour, very frequent connections. I took a day trip there from Paris Nord in 2012...nice town Beauvais, interesting too if you want to see a WW 2 site aside from the cathedral.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Should've known it was "too good" of a deal. Sounds like we might just spend the night in Beauvis and take the bus in the next day. Thanks again for the great info.
Steve
Why would you spend the night in beauvais and waste a day of your trip. The bus/shuttle is timed for the plane so the passengers on your plane will all be bused to Port Maillot where you can then hop on the metro to wherever you need to go in Paris and get yourself established to begin your sightseeing the next morning. I would never choose Beauvais but since you have those tickets, the system it pretty well worked out for getting from there to Paris. Thousands of people do it every week.
Beauvais is nice town to explore without being inundated by tourists, not even French tourists go there, let alone North Americans. You won't see them there. Certain the nice hours I spent walking around Beauvais on that day trip from Paris I didn't see any tourists in the centre ville.
