Train from Montreux, Switzerland to Annecy, France

Hi!

We will be staying in Montreux for a few days the end of May and one day we wanted to cross the border and visit Annecy, France. I have a car rented to make the trip, but I'm wondering if anyone knows about taking a train there from Montreux. We will be traveling with a 3 country select Eurail pass that includes France.

Thanks!

Mark

From Montreux to Chamonix would be a faster train ride (2 hours, mostly within Switzerland, via Martigny not Geneva), if you just want to touch France and also see Mont Blanc.

From Geneve to Annecy, it's more direct and may be faster to switch to a bus instead of train; check schedules at https://www.transdevhautesavoie.com/fr/destinations/geneve. Of course, driving could be all on your own schedule.

Also note the possible French rail strike days for the month, which will affect a portion of French trains but not Swiss: https://en.oui.sncf/train/strike.
