I am traveling to the South of France at the end of September from the US. I will be arriving in Marseille on a Thursday afternoon, and I will spend that night in Arles My plane is supposed to land at 12:45pm. How long will it take to get to the train station from the airport? Do I need to reserve a train ticket from Marseilles to Arles? With what train company? Do I have to transfer? Sorry for so many questions, but I am traveling solo and this is the part of the trip about which I am most worried.
You will first take a short bus ride from the Marseilles Provence Airport to the Vitrolles-Aéroport Marseille Provence train station. Info is on the airport website here:

You don’t need to buy the train ticket in advance. It is a regional TER train. I would suggest that you download the SNCF Connect app to your phone. When you get on the bus or arrive at the station, you can buy an eticket on your phone via the app. Alternatively, you can buy a ticket from a machine at the station. You can get a direct train and the train takes about 50 minutes.
It is quite easy. I did this trip (but in the reverse direction) back in 2023.
Check train fares and schedules on the SNCF website:

Thank you, Laura!
Grace,
No need to go to Gare St. Charles in Marseilles. See the above responses.
Thank you, JoLui!
I assume the bus ride from the airport to the train station is a free shuttle or will I need to buy a ticket for that, as well?
You need to buy a ticket from the bus driver. You can pay with card or cash. The ticket price and this info is on the airport website that I linked in my post above.
