Train from Marseille airport to Avignon

Hope you can offer me some wisdom here. I'm flying into Marseille and need to train over to Avignon. I bought my train ticket, which says I Board from St Charles station. Only now do I learn that to get to st Chas station, I must buy another ticket for 9E. Yikes

I thought that I would take the free, 5 minute shuttle to catch my train, but now learn that the free shuttle goes to Vitrolles station, NOT st Charles sta.

The fine print on my ticket is written in French, So no understanding. Ideally, I'd like to get a refund on this St Charles station ticket and buy a ticket for Avignon on a train leaving from Vitrolles station. UGH!?!
I think I goofed, bad, right?

Any tips or ideas to help me?
Thank you!

You can exchange any train ticket no matter the language. Why not exchange it on the site where you bought it?
I have been able to exchange French SNCF rail tickets online but of course depending on the kind of ticket you bought you probably have to pay fee.

Looking at your last thread, I would follow Tom's advice, which tells you that it's fine to board the regional train part-way along it's route, with Vitrolles station being the next stop after Marseille St. Charles.

One way you can confirm this is to find your train through a regular schedule search at www.bahn.com and then click on the train number to see all stops of the train.

Laura,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments. This makes sense now. I did not realize the route and the stops made by the train. I seem to over think some of this, sometimes. For some reason, European trains always confuse me...

Thanks again,
