Traveling 9/5 aeroport CDG2 TGV>/Bayeux through Le Mans & Cain
Will we need to change trains in Le Mans & Cain?
"first time train travelers"
This website shows rail connections all over Europe. It shows train changes at both Le Mans and Caen. If you're not already committed to that route, you might consider taking the RER "B" into Paris Gare du Nord, then a taxi or RER "E" to Gare St-Lazaire, then a train from there to Bayeux (via Caen, but not necessarily changing there). I expect that would be faster and cheaper, but I didn't do the research. It would force you into and out of Paris which you might want to avoid.
Sadly, there's no direct rail connection between CDG and Normandy. See the discussion of trains under "Travel Tips" on this website.
Are you using the SNCF website (they run the inter-city trains) to find this route? It shows the amount of time between trains at each of the two connections you mention.
Or you can find some direct trains from St-Lazare station to Bayeux. But that means using the RER/Underground system from the airport to St-Lazare.

I am travelling Sept 7th to Bayeux after arriving at CDG. There are direct trains available now (weren’t shown when I checked a few weeks ago). Though one can connect at Caen, I felt that a direct train would be best after a long haul flight and suggest you recheck SNCF site now. Return trip was E30 so very reasonable. If difficulty locating don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Patty, where did you find direct train service between CDG and Bayeux? I checked the SNCF website for Sept. 7 and it routes you through Paris on the RER. If you've found direct service you've discovered something no one else on this forum has! ;-)
Could be a direct bus. Flixbus has a couple buses a day that go CDG to Caen.
My apologies, I meant direct train from Gare St Lazare to Bayeux. Until recently all trains showed two connections so just recently the direct lines were posted.
I find this a lot on the SNCF site. They don't list all the trains (and often not the direct ones), until you get a little closer to the date. Not sure why.
