Train from CDG 2E to Gare de Reims?

Bonjour!
We are booked for the Rick Steves Eastern France tour starting Sept 15 but will be arriving early on Sept 13. We will arrive in terminal 2E of CDG, hopefully around 11:30 am. Has anyone recently made the trip to Gare de Reims from CDG by train? Is it better to go to Gare du Nord, walk to Gare de l'Est then go to Gare de Reims? Or can you go take a TGV from the CDG station directly to Gare de Reims? Hard to see where that route gets to Gare de Reims, but also wondering if construction at Gare du Nord for the 2024 Olympics makes it hard to walk to Gare de l'Est.
Thanks for any insight you can provide!

The trip to Gare de Reims from CDG usually requires a change at the TGV station located 8 kms from Reims. If you do not want to make that change then go ahead and take the train from CDG to Paris and then walk to Gare de l'Est where you can get a direct fast train to Reims. However, IMO the change at the TGV station to get to the Gare de Reims is way easier than taking the RER B to Paris and walking from Gare du Nord to Gare de l'Est.

What JHK said. Much easier to avoid the entry into Paris and Gare du Nord/Gare de l’Est change and just make the change at Reims TGV.

Thanks so much! We will try the TGV out of CDG with the station change. Does seem better than going back to Paris, then to Reims.

So, as the others have said, you take a train from CDG to Champagne-Ardenne TGV, 8 miles from Reims. But you don't even need to take the local train to Gare de Reims : there's a tram that takes you downtown from the TGV station. Runs every 15-20 minutes or so.

Thanks for that tip! We were not aware there was a tram in Reims. I found a link (https://www.citura.fr/) that shows maps for its route and it will be a big help getting to sites around Reims as well.

Took the TGV from CDG to the Champagne-Ardenne (CA) Station in May of this year. It is only a 30-minute trip (versus 1.5 hours if driving). Since we had our luggage with us, we took a cab from the C-A Station to our hotel in Reims. I think the cab was only 10 Euros (with tip).
