Train Dijon to Antibes

What are the recommendations regarding taking a train from Dijon to our hotel in Antibes? Should I check on rides into Nice and rely upon local transport to our accommodation in Antibes? So far, what I have learned is that it is a 7 - 8 hour ride!! Can this be possible? I checked on the SNCF website. I don't mind spending 3 - 4 hours but 8 hours is a full day ugh.

I am not thinking of air travel. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Lorie

Yep, 7 hours, I looked it up for 09:00 next Wednesday, and got (for example):

Dijon Ville dep 09:40, Lyon Part Dieu arr 11:44

Lyon Part Dieu dep 12:36, Avignon TGV arr 13:46
Avignon TGV dep 14:00, Antibes arr 16:47

"I am not thinking of air travel. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated." - Oh yes you are, I saw your other post: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/flight-from-dijon-to-antibes

If you flew, you still need to get to Lyon airport, and from Nice Airport. It ends up taking nearly as long, and a lot more complicated trip.
You can look up options on: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Dijon/Antibes
That site is good for suggesting options you didn't think of. Not so good for exact times and prices

Driving is not much different (route from: https://www.viamichelin.com/ )

Time: 06h12 (05h53 on motorways)
Distance: 645 km (634 km on motorways)
Costs: €114.13 (Toll €56.90 + Consumption €57.23)

Yes, it's at least seven hours however you look at it (plane, drive, train), so train is best. By train, the last hour of it is very scenic along the coast.

Hi Lorie, I like to use www.rome2rio.com for initial estimates of travel time by various methods (always verify actual train times at the train company link). Even driving looks like it will be 6 hours, plus the time to rent the car, etc.

If you don’t want more than 3 hours of transportation time per day, maybe stop for an overnight in Avignon.
