Train Annecy to Aix en Provence

I need to get to Aix en Provence from Annecy. I think the TGV train is the best option....?Has anyone done this? Do I need to book in advance? Where do I book online? Any suggestions for this would be appreciated! Thank you.

Hi,

Just curious how this worked out? I'm trying trying to buy train tickets for the same route as well (Annecy to Aix en Provence)- and it's confusing. I do see an option to switch trains at Aix -- It mentions an autocar - is this a regional train? Seems easier than grabbing the shuttle.
Appreciate any insight if the itinerary I found on the website below looks right.
Does the shuttle run on Sundays?
Does anyone recommend the added insurance for train strikes/cancellations?

You can buy your ticket directly on the official website oui sncf. There are other sellers recommended on this forum such as loco2 and trainline.

The autocar Melissa references is actually the shuttle bus from the TGV station to the downtown Aix bus station. You can either include the shuttle bus fare in your ticket, or just buy the Annecy-AixTGV ticket and pay the shuttle separately. Here is the shuttle schedule Aix TGV to Aix Centre bus schedule . It does run on Sundays.

Jbrady -- Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you! So grateful for your wisdom! Any thoughts on the travel insurance? Also, I noticed that when I book two fares from Paris to Annecy it's more expensive than if I bought two fares individually. I didn't go as far as completing the reservation to see if there are seat assignments to know if buying the fares separately would matter. By chance is this something you are aware of?

This price difference is odd, maybe there was only one seat left in the cheaper fare band? It doesn't matter if you book separately or together, since on OUI.SNCF website you can specify if you want to be seated next to a given seat.
As for booking the shuttle bus together with the train ticket: the only downside is that you will need to print the ticket if you do so, whereas a mobile phone ticket is enough if you just use it on the train.
