Any recommendations for a traditional French bistro near the Eiffel Tower or the Trocadero? I would like to celebrate my birthday this summer with dinner in that sort of place. I have found 20 Eiffel but wonder if there are also others like that nearby? Plan is for dinner, than walk over to the Trocadero to watch the 10:00 ET sparkles. Budget doesn't matter, but I don't want anything too formal , since we are eating at Le Train Bleu the next evening. Thanks for any suggestions.
I see Le Roussillon mentioned frequently, but I haven't been there. A bit further of a walk than from 20 Eiffel, but when in Paris! Enjoy the sparkles from the Tocadero! And also Le P'tit Troquet.
L’Ami Jean is very good and about a 15 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Reservations are a must.
I'll put in a recommendation for Restaurant Victor on rue Lauriston, in a charming part of the 16th about 10-15 minutes walk from the Trocadero. Refined but comfortable surroundings and young, engaging staff (they were even okay that we brought our 6 year-old). Served a very good pate en croute and sweetbreads (hard to find), among a number of other dishes.
I enjoy Cafe Roussillon mentioned by KD at the corner of Rue Cler and Rue de Grenelle. I also enjoy Le Petit Cler a few steps down Rue Cler from this intersection. Roussillon does not ever seem to have an active website nor are they active on FB or IG. I enjoy the food, though and they are always kind to me as a solo diner.

Some other thoughts:
Cafe Max - I've never eaten here mostly because they have a very "meaty" menu and I'm vegan most of the time. The history is fascinating and there is a zinc bar inside according to the reviews I've seen.

La Terrasse du 7eme - at the corner of Avenue de la Motte-Picquet and Avenue Bosquet which has a nice terrace area for people watching. This is a brasserie not a bistro but I'm not sure I know the difference except maybe a brasserie is a bit bigger?
Thank you for all of the suggestions. I am spoiled for choice but enjoying checking out all of your recommendations.
