Our trip starts in Paris in mid-Sept, and departs from Barcelona in early Oct. We have 8 days to travel and explore in-between. Looking for recommendations of possible places to visit to create an itinerary.

Most of France is your huitre/oyster. Try to spend at least two nights at most stops. The most direct route and main train line runs east of center, through Dijon, Lyon, Avignon/Arles, Nimes, and Montpellier. West of center, look at a route via the Loire valley, Sarlat/Dordogne, Albi, and Carcassonne.
