Tour Eiffel

I plan to book lunch at the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant next summer. Lunch reservations include a pass to the 1st level of the tower. In addition, we want to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. But the official Eiffel Tower site only sells tickets from the ground to the various levels, including the top.

I'm wondering what to do. When done with lunch, can we simply buy tickets to the top, starting at the 1st level? Or do we need to go back down and start over? Is there any discount on tickets to the top starting at the 1st? Another alternative is to do lunch one day, and go to the top another day (we're staying nearby in the 7th arr).

Thanks for any enlightenment about how to go from the 1st level to the top.

"When done with lunch, can we simply buy tickets to the top, starting at the 1st level?" Yes.

You may find that after you have experienced the first level you don't feel a need to go higher.

The views from the first level are pretty good, and quite high already.

related question: if I have tickets to the top level - can I go to the top, down to the 2nd and 1st levels - then go back up to the top again? seems like I should be able to - just hoping someone can confirm (?) thanks!! - Emily

Hi Bob - To answer your question, yes. You can buy a levels 2/3 ticket. You can also take the stairs to level two and buy a ticket there.

Emily - You can indeed stop again on the levels going down. In my case, I walked the stairs to the first and second levels, then took the lift to the top. I then returned to the second level, watched the sunset over Paris and walked down the rest of the way. The stairs actually aren't bad, plus the ticket is cheaper and the line shorter. My only warning is that if you take the lift rather than the stairs and want to go from the second to first levels, you probably want to check with the operator that the lift stops on the first level on the way down.
