Planning trip from Barcelona to Bayonne with stopover around Toulouse. Suggestions of where to stay, Toulouse or Cahors or some small city? I like small cities. Spending 3 days. Want public transportation, don't want to rent a car unless necessary.
Also appreciate bed and breakfast (preferred) or hotel recommendations.
There are couple of good connections to Cahors from Barcelona, one at 9:25 and one at 13:20. Takes 6 1/2 hours. Cahors to Bayonne is through Bordeaux in about 6 hours.
Never been to Cahors, but I love the wine. I pick up a bottle whenever I spot one. Not very common in the States.
Thanks for info.
The old town is small but charming.
Still 3 days would be a lot there, without a car to explore the Lot and Cele valleys. Its a 5 + hour train trip from there to Bayonne
The center of Cahors is charming, but, as Adam said, 3 days there w/o a car is too much. And there are good wine shops, but no wineries, in the center of Cahors. The vineyards and wineries are mostly to the west.
Thanks for all the input. I'm hoping to get suggestions on what city to stay in and a BnB to stay at. I can rent a car but prefer not, I like public transportation, but will rent if needed.
