We are traveling through southern France in September and will be stopping a couple days in Toulouse. Any suggestions on area to stay, and a hotel or apartment I’ve been looking and I’m just wondering what some opinions were. Thanks!
Three years ago we stayed right on the town square pedestrian area at the Crowne Plaza for 3 nights. We could walk to all major sites and use the metro easily. We got a very good rate but didn’t book breakfast. There were 2 bakeries next door that we used for breakfast. I’d easily stay in this hotel again. We had also looked at boutique hotels and less expensive chain hotels but this was a good fit, price and location for us.
Thanks. We have hotel points for there!
You can easily pass a couple of days in Toulouse just wandering around the centre. Some places to visit that I'd recommend are: the basilica of Saint-Sernin and the neighbouring musée Saint-Raymond (for Roman Toulouse); the musée des Augustins (medieval and later art); the cathedral of Saint-Etienne (which is quite an eccentric building); and the musée Paul-Dupuy (decorative arts, coins, clocks). There are others as well, of course. The information office is behind the Capitole, just a couple of minutes from the Crowne Plaza.
Try Sejour à Toulouse http://www.sejouratoulouse.com/en/ , but you are less likely to have air conditioning in an apartment than in a hotel. We spent 10 days in an apartment from this agency a few years ago.
