Toiletries

What’s the most convenient place to buy deodorant, hair gel or mousse & items like that? Can you find these in a supermarket?

Definitely supermarkets - the bigger Monoprix stores, for example, have a large range of toiletries and haircare products.

Monoprix is great. The big stores, not the little minimarts, have a really huge selection including some fairly high end products. And they often have slightly different things from what we get at home (as well as the same brands) e.g. I remember years ago getting this great basil scented shampoor.

any reasonably sized grocery store will have a section of toiletries, just not the big selection.

Pharmacies will also carry these items. Most villages will have a pharmacy. We researched French brands equivalents before we left to make shopping easier.

Most pharmacies carry more expensive lines and sometimes it’s hard to see the prices except in a place like City Pharma in Paris, which can be overwhelming, so a supermarket or Monoprix is easier. However, if you see the word Parapharmacie, they are selling all the toiletries, easy to select, no prescription medications, just a toiletries store.
