We are in Paris and hope to visit Versailles in the next day or two. But we have heard that there is a stoppage on the normal train route. Could someone please give us instructions for public transport? We are staying near Notre Dame. Merci!
Have you checked the website of the Versailles museum?
The train is running. It's just not making stops between Gare d'Austerlitz and Javel so if you got to Invalides station, for example, you cannot catch the train but you can at Javel. Use RATP.fr/en for directions for whatever Metro or RER station stop is closest to your accommodations.
Not train related... but wanted to throw in that we went a few weeks ago and I HIGHLY recommend trying to book a tour - we did the King's Apartments. It keeps you out of the main insane line to get in and gives you access to other places where you can actually look around instead of just being herded through like cattle (you can do that AFTER the tour). :)
Kim
Heather,
Since the RER C train is not stopping along the route from Paris Austerlitz (train station) and Javel;
you'll need to get to the Javel station via Metro line 10 (yellow) at the
Cluny -La Sorbonne Metro station which is close to Notre Dame.
You may want to consider getting the Next stop Paris app on your phone as it's an invaluable tool to help one navigate around Paris. One great thing about this app is that you can use it offline.
Enjoy your time in PAris!
