To Disneyland Paris via taxi with toddler in this heatwave

I went at Easter and it was quite hot then but not as bad as the forecast for next week.

Are you only going for one day? The train station is literally at the park entrance so that would be ok. However, regarding the heat - it is a problem. This is Paris not Florida and the park is not set up to deal with high temperatures. There is not a lot of shade and they sold out of ice cream and ice lollies! If you aren’t dead set on going I would skip it. I don’t think it’s going to be fun.

I’m not a Disney fan particularly and had low expectations but I really enjoyed myself so I’m not knocking the experience but it would have been extremely challenging if the temperature was any higher.

Personally, a day spent at places like the Luxembourg Garden which has some nice play areas for young children, lots of shady areas plus the cute sailboats to place in the water sounds like a much better experience than Disney Paris in the heat! At least your grandchild is too young to know either way so there’s no disappoint.

According to the weather forecast, we could see record-breaking temperatures. This coming Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, temperatures could exceed 105°F (40°C) in certain areas, including Paris and the surrounding region (and up to 86°F / 30°C at night).

The government has announced that some areas currently under an orange alert could be upgraded to a red heatwave alert (including Paris), which is the highest level.

I've taken my kids there when they were younger but not in the summer and certainly not in a heatwave. I don't recall many areas set up to offer shade like there is in Florida most likely because the planners didn't feel it was necessary.

I have no idea what a taxi would cost but I suspect that it would be very expensive. The train is the easiest option because the station is right at the entrance to the park.

Personally I wouldn't go and your granddaughter isn't going to know about it.

A two year old will have no memories of this trip. For them, it is the daily experiences and being with loved family members. A two year old is also more likely to be stressed by heat.

Choose activities that will be more comfortable for all of you.

I have been to Disneyland Paris in August when it was in the mid 80s and it was uncomfortable. There is not much shade other than most (but not all) lines for rides are somewhat shaded. You can duck into shops and other places to cool off but you'd be there with everyone else looking to do the same. The train is air conditioned but will be very crowded with early goers as well. There are shuttle busses that run from the center of Paris but they too will be crowded especially early.

In my opinion going in during a massive heat wave with a 2 year old would be epic misery. Can you gift the tickets to someone else? I'm sure your friend would understand.

Thank you all. We've been in Paris for 10 days and the heat has become increasingly intense. We suspect that we'll be frazzled by next Friday when the temperature is expected to drop from 106 mid-week to 99. We appreciate your advice about your experiences at Disneyland Paris and with high temperatures in general. We'll find our way to Disneyland Paris next time.

CL: I forgot to mention that the complimentary tickets are good for a year so our friend can pass them along to another family. The same tickets are good for any Disneyland worldwide.

For anyone interested in the cost of a taxi ride from Paris to Disneyland Paris, it was 120 euros for the 45 minute drive for one toddler and three adults with a car seat for the toddler. This is with Welcome Pick-ups which we used on our arrival at CDG 10 days ago. Their excellent drivers arrive in a modern Mercedes SUV, which feels very safe and secure if you have a toddler on board. We had hoped to use G7 Famille for our arrival but for some reason the website and app kept rejecting our Visa card and we couldn't complete the booking.

Yes, this is a known issue with G7 and some VISA cards. I discovered last Fall that the Chase VISA card which I had previously used for YEARS on the G7 app no longer worked. I changed out to my AMEX card and for some weird reason that works fine. I used the saved AMEX card again last October and it was still functional.

Yes, we have found a similar solution now that we're here. Our daughter, who also has a Chase Visa card uses her Mastercard instead and she is able to order a G7 Famille cab with a car seat anytime. It's been so hot here in Paris that she and her daughter have been using G7 Famille to get to and back from places like the wonderful Jardin d'Acclimatation (better than Disneyland and a lot more affordable) and the Cite' des Enfants for about 20 euros each way. Well worth the cost during these crazy temperatures.
