Time needed to transfer to an Ouigo train

My husband and I are familiar with train travel in Europe, but we have a new situation this year. I have purchased train tickets for us to go from Nancy to Colmar. The first train goes from Nancy to the Metz Ville station, arriving at 9:27am. Our second leg of the trip is an Ouigo from Metz to Colmar. It leaves at 10:14am. I’ve been reading about the Ouigo boarding requirements, such as the info listed below. If our first train is 20-30 minutes late, can we still board the Ouigo train at Metz? I looked up the Metz station on YouTube, and it appears to only have two tracks. Is the 30-minute requirement focused more for the larger stations? We only have two days in Colmar, so we wouldn’t want to miss the second train. Thanks for your replies!

“Arrive ahead of time: Ouigo insists that you must arrive at least 30 minutes before your train. With that extra margin, the staff checks tickets and herds everyone onto a large platform in order to leave the train idling in the station with passengers actually boarding for a minimum of time.”

Nancy and Metz are only 40 minutes apart by TER trains, and the trains originate in Nancy and terminate in Metz. So I don't see why they would be 20 minutes late, barring some very unusual circumstances. Since they are TER trains, you could also take the earlier train at 8:20 and get there by 9, giving you a 1 1/4 hour cushion.

I also would not anticipate the train being that late and, if it is, the station staff should know about it. Ouigo tickets are checked in advance on the platform, not onboard. It's faster, but let's also hope they don't process the "whole crowd" in 2 minutes and then go on a break. Sorry that we don't have direct experience of this service.

Worst-case scenario, if you had to take the next train, it's probably at 12:08 and might cost 37 euros per person.
